Adore's Story
Why Joyce's Place Matters
Research consistently shows that strong family support can improve a patient’s ability to cope with cancer treatment—emotionally, practically, and even medically. At Joyce’s Place, we help patients and their loved ones stay together during extended therapy by providing affordable, fully furnished apartments with modern amenities near Emory Proton Treatment Center.
Key benefits of families remaining together during cancer treatment include:
-
Emotional support: Loved ones offer reassurance and stability, helping reduce stress, fear, and isolation during treatment.
-
Improved recovery: A consistent, home-like environment can lower stress and support follow-through with appointments, nutrition, rest, and care plans.
-
Practical assistance: Family can help with meals, medications, transportation, caregiving, and managing day-to-day responsibilities.
-
Improved communication: A support person can take notes, ask questions, and help share accurate updates with the care team
-
Strengthened relationships: Facing treatment together can deepen trust and reinforce a reliable support network.
-
Better coping: Families can share the emotional load, build routines, and seek resources together—supporting resilience over time.
-
Enhanced quality of life: Staying close to loved ones can provide comfort and continuity, making the treatment journey feel more manageable.
When families can stay nearby, support becomes easier to sustain—patients have help for everyday needs and caregivers can remain engaged in the treatment process.
Joyce’s Place offers welcoming, safe accommodations for out-of-town families, children, and adults receiving life-saving proton therapy. Our mission is to ease the burdens of travel and treatment by providing comfort, community, and care—so families can focus on healing together. By helping patients remain close to their loved ones, Joyce’s Place supports the stability and connection that can improve well-being throughout treatment.
