Affordable Housing for Families Facing Cancer Treatment in Atlanta

Joyce’s Place offers safe, affordable housing for families traveling to Atlanta for cancer treatment. More than a place to stay, it’s a home filled with comfort, care, and community during life’s hardest moments.

The Heart Behind Our Logo

Our logo features a well-loved house with a glowing heart at its center. The weathered look represents the realness of life and the challenges families face, while the heart shines with resilience, love, and support. It symbolizes the care inside our walls, strong, healing, and full of hope.

The Tree of Life

In our Loft Family Center, the Tree of Life mural shares our story. Each patient leaves a painted handprint as a leaf, symbolizing life beginning again. It’s a growing tapestry of courage, connection, and community, reminding every family that they are not alone.

Our History

Founded in 2020 as Christopher’s Haven Atlanta, Joyce’s Place began with a single apartment supporting families of pediatric cancer patients receiving treatment at the nearby Emory Proton Therapy Center.

Since then, we’ve grown to six units and the Loft Community Center, serving more than 50 families each year. In 2024, the organization was renamed in memory of our beloved founder, Joyce Duvall, whose vision and compassion continue to guide our mission.

Remembering Joyce Duvall

In 2020, Joyce extended her heartfelt mission by founding and serving as the Executive Director of Christopher’s Haven Atlanta until her untimely passing in 2024. Her favorite quote, “We Rise by Lifting Others” by Robert Ingersoll, perfectly encapsulated the ethos by which she lived. She embodied this sentiment through every act of kindness and every initiative she led, lifting countless others during their times of need. Joyce’s vision, immense contributions, and unwavering dedication to families affected by cancer have left an indelible mark on our organization. Her compassionate spirit and tireless efforts in establishing a supportive environment for children and their families have also made a lasting impact.
